Description:

Teens and Adults.  Trauma-Informed Somatic and Resiliency Life Coach, Kimberly Moore, will be teaching a community class called “ What Fight, Flight, Freeze, Flop, Fawn (The 5 Survival Modes) actually feel like in your body & How to come back to calm”. 

  • Learn how to notice and identify what state the nervous system is in to increase participants awareness of interoception
  • Gain a deeper understanding and education of what what calm in our body feels like (the zone of tolerance) and what the survival modes feel like in our body
  • learn what hyperarousal feels like (fight, flight)
  • learn what hypoarousal feels like (freeze, fawn, flop); and
  • learn 6 somatic exercises to take away as ready-to-go tools to bring students back to regulation and calm in their lives

Description:

Poet Kathleen Wakefield has found that experiencing the reading of poetry in community opens it up in new ways for everyone, whether you've always loved poetry or had less than positive experiences with it! She brings a diverse mini-anthology to each meeting and helps participants discover poems that deeply connect them to their own experiences and to the world. No prior experience with poetry is necessary. Sweet Bites will be held at MPL monthly this winter and participants are welcome to come to any or all of the sessions!
